About Hemco

Why Choose HEMCO

Two Simple Reasons:

1. Our gages last longer.
2. Saves you time and money!

HEMCOChrome™ gages provide a substantially longer life than plain steel or other imitation chrome plated gages – almost 3-5x longer!

HEMCOChrome™gages have a coating thickness that exceeds the competition.

HEMCOChrome™ gages do not require calibration as frequently as other gages thereby saving calibration costs

HEMCOChrome™ gages do not need to be replaced as often as other gages thereby saving overhead costs

In laboratory tests the HEMCOChrome™ gage outlasts the competitors plain steel gage or the imitators flash chrome gage 4:1

Testing laboratory results indicate that the HEMCOChrome™ gage lasted 3-5x longer than the competitor chrome gage, which provided only a small 20% longer life over an unplated hardened tool steel gage.

Tested using 1/2-13 UNC Go Plugs and cast iron parts.

  • 0-1 Tool Steel through-hardened to 58-62 Rc, then HEMCOChrome™ processed to 72 Rc
  • Altered Geometric Engineering
    – We manufacture undersize and then chrome plate to the high side of the tolerance
  • Specially designed chrome plating equipment for tight tolerance gaging
  • Special process chrome plating bath formulas
  • Our team members have many years of experience– surely our most important component!

Brief History of HEMCO

Founded in 1946

H. E. Morse Co. was founded in 1946 and shortly thereafter a unique plating process was developed. During the Korean War, H.E. Morse Co. began manufacturing thread plug gages for the U.S. government. The unique plating process was applied to chrome plating of the gages, giving them up 3-5x longer life than standard tool steel gages.

Process

The organization, now commonly known as Hemco or Hemco Gage, manufactures a full line of fixed limit gages and variable gages, both thread and cylindrical or plain.

Made in the Good Old USA

Hemco’s manufacturing facility is located in Holland, Michigan, USA. Hemco also manufactures gages to American Petroleum Institute (API) specifications and is one of only two manufacturers in the United States licensed to manufacture API master gages. Hemco’s products are recognized throughout the world for their longer life and outstanding quality.

Precision & Craftsmanship Drive HEMCO

``Company that started making fountain pens now thrives making industrial gages...`` Steve VanderVeen, professor at Hope College, writes a historical documentation of the precision, expertise, and pride Hemco brings to the playing field through it's employees and rich culture. July 10, 2005.
